Eurostar Compensation Lies

Eurostar website will tell you if your journey is delayed by 60 to 119 minutes you will get a free one way journey ticket or 50% off another return fare. Any longer than this is more discounts free this and that. It all sounds rather reasonable, the only thing is its a load of hogwash. Eurostar will do everything they can to avoid this payout. One time I was on a return journey to London from Brussels. Sitting in the Brussels eurostar waiting area for hours, what was the hold up?

Apparently as information released to the press somebody jumped from a train trying to seek illegal entrance into the UK via Eurostar. After being refused entrance into the UK, he was put on a train back to brussels and decided to open one of the Eurostar doors and jump to safety, only he jumped to his death. This is very sad but thats another story. Eurostar refused to pay customers for their delayed journey claiming it was out of their control. But seriously isnt every delay beyond anyones control?  thats why its called a delay! So as you can see Eurostar outright lies on their website, what they really mean is:

They might compensate you for delayed journeys if they cannot think of an excuse not to.
